A new twist on the capital's most consistently excellent national showcases

There's a new look to the London Turkish Film Festival for its 15th edition, as the winner of the inaugural Digital Distribution Award will go on to receive a theatrical release in the near future. Always one of the capital's most engaging and intelligent festivals, this new iniative sets it apart from its competitors and speaks volumes for the commitment to Turkish cinema and the cultural acuity of the event's director, Vedide Kaymak.

Charity Dinner with Turkan Soray

Turkan Soray has kindly agreed to attend a dinner in the aid of a new filmmaking project for children, ‘Kids in Motion’, by Balik Arts. During the dinner, we will screen a short film (Kazandibi Tavukgogsu), hold a discussion with Turkan Soray, listen to Sedat Sarici’s live music, and eat and drink. The dinner will be held on 4 November at Ev Restaurant.

15. Londra Türk Film Festivali, "Britanya'da Dijital Dağıtım Ödülü " ile Türk sinemasını destekliyor.

5-19 Kasım 2009 tarihleri arasında 15.’si gerçekleştirilecek olan LONDRA TÜRK FİLM FESTİVALİ, bu yıl bir ilke imza atıyor ve “yarışma”da birinci olan filme ödül olarak; Britanya ve İrlanda’da dijital dağıtım olanağı yaratan çok özel bir KONTRAT sunuyor. Özellikle Türk Sineması’nın sektörel anlamda uluslararası bir platform tarafından desteklendiği ilk uygulama olan Dijital Dağıtım Ödülü için, Festival yönetimi dördü Britanya’lı biri Türk olan beş kişilik bir Jüri oluşturuyor.

Britanya’nın tanınmış sinema yazarlarından Empire Online’da yazan David Parkinson, Londra’nın en önemli sinema zincirlerinden olan Curzon’un Program Direktörü Jason Wood ve City Screen Programcısı Jo Blair’in yer alacağı kesinleşen Jüri’ye Türkiye’den de değerli bir oyuncumuz Hülya Koçyiğit katılıyor.

Bundan böyle her yıl Türk veya Türkiye’nin de içinde olduğu bir ortak yapıma “Dijital Dağıtım Ödülü” verecek olan Londra Türk Film Festivali, Türk sinemasına Britanya ve İrlanda’da farklı bir dağıtım kanalı yaratırken, jüride yer alan Britanya’lı sinema yazarları dağıtımcı ve programcıların bu yarışma fırsatı ile daha fazla Türk filmleri izlemesini sağlayacak ve bu yolla farklı olanakların da kapısını aralamış olacaktır.

Londra Türk Film Festivali ilk "Yaşam Boyu Başarı Ödülü"nü Türkan Şoray'a veriyor.

Londra Türk Film Festivali’nin her yıl bir Türk sinemacısına vereceği YAŞAM BOYU BAŞARI ÖDÜLÜ’nün ilki, Türk sinemasının sultanı TÜRKAN ŞORAY’a veriliyor. Oyuncu ve yönetmen olarak Türk Sinemasına 250 film armağan eden ve sinemamızın hemen hemen bütün önemli yönetmenleri ile çalışmış olan Türkan Şoray, bundan böyle verilecek olan YAŞAM BOYU BAŞARI ÖDÜLLERİ geleneğini de başlatmış olacak.

ŞORAY’a ödülü, 5 Kasım’da Britanya Oskarlarına ev sahipliği yapan görkemli BAFTA salonunda gerçekleştirilecek olan Festival Galası’nda sunulacak. Britanya Sinema camiasının; Festival konuklarının ve medyanın katılımıyla gerçekleşecek olan Gala gecesinde Şoray’ın önemli filmlerinden oluşan bir de kısa bir film gösterilecek.

Londra Türk Film Festivali seyirci ödülü de ilk kez veriliyor.

Festival tarafından bu yıl başlatılan bir başka ilk ise “Seyirci Ödülü” … Festival izleyicilerinin, filmlerden çıktıktan sonra oy kullanıp kazanan filmi belirleyecekleri Seyirci Ödülü Festival bitiminden bir hafta sonra sahipleriyle buluşacak.

15th London Turkish Film Festival to provide distribution contract for the UK and Ireland

The London Turkish Film Festival (LTFF) is excited to announce that it will award the most promising feature film in this year’s festival with a Digital Distribution Contract for a release in the UK and Ireland. The LTFF Jury will grant the contract to the most impressive new Turkish film that displays the qualities necessary to connect with audiences in the UK.

A selection of ten new Turkish feature films or Turkish co-productions will be in competition for the prize, which will be announced by the LTFF Jury at the Opening Gala, at BAFTA on November 5th.

The LTFF Jury will be made up of British and internationally acclaimed members of the film industry, including Jo Blair, Programmer, City Screen, Empire Journalist David Parkinson, Director of Programming at Curzon Cinemas, Jason Wood and Turkish actress Hülya Koçyiğit.

Vedide Kaymak, Festival Director of LTFF commented “Turkish films such as TIMES AND WINDS and THREE MONKEYS have proven to succeed both critically and commercially in the UK”. Vedide continued “the film festival provides a great platform to showcase the best of new Turkish cinema in London, and this Digital Distribution Contract represents a fantastic opportunity for us to support a film’s release in the UK, from theatrical through to all other platforms”.

In addition to the films in competition, the festival programme will include a further selection of Turkish features, documentaries and short films with over 8,000 admissions expected. The 15th London Turkish Film Festival will take place from the 5th – 19th November 2009.

The London Turkish Film Festival (LTFF) is firmly established as the longest running and only festival providing an exciting platform for daring, varied and avant garde Turkish films. During this time the festival has screened over 200 feature, and 300 short and documentary films across the capital’s most prestigious cinemas.
