Opening Gala Night

The glittering opening gala night of the LTFF saw the announcement of the 2010 Digital Distribution Award sponsored by Digiturk. This award is a £30,000 fund to help distribute and promote a Turkish film to a UK-wide mainstream cinema audience.

THE WINNER OF THE 2010 DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION AWARD....
Semih Kaplanoglu's HONEY (BAL)

The LTFF Jury's citation focused on the film's wonderful storytelling told with an absolute mastery of the cinematic art. Beautiful cinematography and a wonderful central performance from Bora Atlas as the young Yusuf, make HONEY a worthy winner and a film that deserves to be seen by the widest audience in the UK.

The Jury additionally gave a Special Mention to Seren Yuce's MAJORITY as a film that, though particular to Turkey, transcends national boundaries.

THE LTFF GOLDEN WINGS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2010
was presented to SENER SEN

A standing ovation from a capacity opening night audience welcomed the legendary Turkish actor to the stage of the Empire Cinema to receive the statuette and provide a starry, emotional and memorable opening to the 2010 London Turkish Film Festival.

A WORLD PREMIERE FINALE

A magical evening continued with a magical modern fairy tale: the World Premiere screening of SLEEPING PRINCESS, the latest film by Cagan Irmak who, along with members of the production cast and crew, was there to introduce his delightful tale and celebrate the unique event that is LTFF 2010.
